April 6, 2007 16:34 - Herb Pictures Can Act As A Feng Sui Aid To Enhance Energy Of House Or Office

Dear Friends,

Herb pictures or herbal photographs or scenaries can be used as an aid to enhance the energy of a premise whether it is house or office. Feng Sui guides to partition a house or office premises into nine distinct areas. Each area has its own energy field that should be maintained by placing corresponding objects and by having related colors.

I don't know exactly what could be the underlying cause for such proposed effect? But, and it is a good but, we can keep aside our logic for some time and can put images of a particular color in specific place of our house. That shouldn't make us superstitious.

According to Feng Sui, the mid east and south east corner of our house resonates with green color. So we can have some pictures of herbs in that area and enjoy the enhancement of energy according to the ancient chinese system. You can find more info in this regard here. Find more info here>>>

April 7, 2007 10:58 - Herbal Remedies For Anemia In Ayurvedic Medicine

Dear Visitors, When we talk about anemia, there is very little that we find in the field of anemia. Some of the herbs or natural supplements that do contain iron is not enough to deal the problem of anemia in the short term. We can use them as dietary supplement over a period of several weeks or months. But what about this situation over the weeks? Ayurveda has the solution for this problem in a more balanced way. Ayurvedic remedies do admire the role of herbs in anemia and there is additional stress on the addition of ayurvedic 'bhasmas'. 'Bhasmas' are the natural minerals that had been processed with herbs in specific ways as advised in ayurveda. Briefly, the crude minerals are broken into smaller pieces, their gross impurities are purified, then they are processed with herbs and minerals several times. Finally we have powder form of minerals that have very small particle size. The bhasmas are without taste, effective in smaller dosage, great in bioavailability and these don't have expiry like herbs. So find more information about these special herbo-mineral natural health supplements from ayurvedic medicine for anemia. Find more info here>>>

April 9, 2007 07:08 - Charaka Samhita As The Foremost Textbook Of Ayurveda

Dear Friends,

The holistic ayurvedic medicine caters to two basic purpose - freeing us of various disorders and enhancing our health. These two basic purposes are the foundation to guide any system of medicine or therapy.

Ayurveda wisdom is accessible to all persons in its original form in classic textbooks of ayurveda that are taught to all ayurveda doctors and students. Among these ayurveda classics, Charaka samhita enjoys a great place, rather it is at the top in Indian Ayurvedic Medicine. All the principles and procedures and management of disorders are described in detail here. Charaka Samhita is the most original, authoritative, comprehensive resource of ayurvedic medicine.

Here, dr vikrama is making a sincere effort to put this great volume online for visitors and friends from all over the world. I feel personally that most of online experts of Ayurveda had written about ayurveda and its principles in a very respectful way to maintain the originality of ayurvedic medicine. But the need for the feel of original context is mostly missing and here we try to provide just that in ayurveda-textbooks.com. Thanks and find more info here. Find more info here>>>

April 9, 2007 17:44 - Passionflower In Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Dear Friends,

Passionflower or Passiflora incarnata is a popular herbal remedy for nervousness and anxiety. Several clinical research trials have confirmed its efficacy as well as safety in GAD or Generalized Anxiety Disorder. So it is both tradition and science approved antianxiety herb.

The main side effect of antianxiety drugs is the sedation or drowsiness in work in the next morning. And this side effect is very minimal or absent in herbal remedies. That is why I call it 'side-benefit' of herbal remedies against the side effects of conventional modern drugs. Medicinal Herbs do act like the drugs and also act in ways beyond medicine. The various phytochemicals in herbs like passionflower work synergistically and along several lines to produce beneficial effect in our body.

Passiflora incarnata got the official approval of Commission E (1985) in Germany for its role in anxiety and insomnia. Passionflower acts in other related trobles like insomnia, nervousness, muscular tension, tension headache. Find more info about this herbal remedy here. Find more info here>>>

April 10, 2007 12:23 - Definition Of Ayurveda And Holistic Health And Holistic Medicine

Defining Life And Ayurveda Definition?

"Life is the dynamic combination of organs, sense and executing faculties, mind and conscious principle. Other synonyms of life are Dhari, Nityaga and Anubandha." (Charaka Samhita, Sutra Section, Ch. 1/42, Longevity - Ayurveda Definition)

Dr Vikrama's Commentary: What is living being? Any person is said be living only until body, senses, mind and soul are there and function in combination. What happens at death? The conscious principle exists the body and is responsible for life at the most basic level. The body, its organs and physiology and everything else is same after death. Only the conscious principle leaves the body and we start to take the body to cremation ground or arranging its coffin.

Again, this definition of life is medically relevant. The doctors can work on or affect any one of these - body, senses, mind and consciousness. Find more info about ayurvea at ayurveda-textbooks.com.

April 10, 2007 21:56 - Secret Mobile Number, Phone Warming And Blasts!

Dear Friends,

My younger brother, who is doing MTech from IIT NEW DELHI forwarded me an email that have some update about a grave news in newspapers and media now. The current news is that you might receive some phone call with an absurd number like 911500000000, or some no. that you can't dial. No one speaks, there might be some absurd or fear raising voice, sound or no sound. The screen goes red and mobile becomes very hot.

Today, my mother in law warned me to check and see all no. on mobile and to not receive any calls at night. She has visited one relative who is now in hospital and being treated for some 'extreme nervous trouble' after she had received the similar phone call the previous night. This incidence has more than 15 close witnesses and the main victim is under treatment. ----------

Though I can't come to any conclusion straightforwardly. But this forwarded message points out in a good direction.

And very interestingly, I received a similar call from this absurd no. and nobody talked to me. The mobile had been normal. And next morning, I read this news in the front page of a national daily newspaper. I was shocked and astonished. ---------------

So have some hope with this new piece.

INTERESTING, WORTHWHILE REMEMBERING AND FOLLOWING

Enjoy the interesting article How Two Russian Journalists Cooked an Egg with their Mobile Phones

Vladimir Lagovski and Andrei Moiseynko from Komsomolskaya Pravda Newspaper in Moscow decided to learn first-hand how harmful cell phones are. There is no magic in cooking with your cell phone. The secret is in the radio waves that the cell phone radiates.

The journalists created a simple microwave structure as shown in the picture. They called from one cell phone to the other and left both phones on talking mode. They placed a tape recorder next to phones to imitate sounds of speaking so the phones would stay on.

After, 15 minutes: The egg became slightly warm.

25 minutes: The egg became very warm.

40 minutes: The egg became very hot.

65 minutes: The egg was cooked. (As you can see.)

Conclusion ..1: Cooking eggs with mobile phones is possible but very expensive ($4.55 or 123 Rubles)

Conclusion ..2: All this talk of danger is exaggerated; even if your brain gets cooked, it would take a couple hours of talking on a cell phone.

I might add, it takes approximately 2 minutes of speaking on a cellular phone for the radiation to cross the protective Blood Brain Barrier. So whenever there is a land line available use it in preference to your cell. If possible use the ear phones.

So, Think Smart - Stay Smart!!!

Forwarded Message ---------------- ----------------

FROM

Arvind Khamitkar , I.A.S,

Director of Medical & Research Div,Chennai

Dear Friends and Public,

A few weeks ago, in a movie theatre, a person felt something poking from her seat. When she got up to see what it was, she found a needle sticking out of the seat with a note attached saying "You have just been infected by HIV". The Disease Control Center (in Paris ) reports many similar events in many other cities recently. All tested needles were HIV Positive.

The Center also reports that needles have been found in cash dispensers at public banking machines. We ask everyone to use extreme caution when faced with this kind of situation. All public chairs/seats should be inspected with vigilance and caution before use. A careful visual inspection should be enough. In addition, they ask that each of you pass this message along to all members of your family and your friends of the potential danger.

Recently, one doctor has narrated a somewhat similar instance that hppened to one of his patients at the Priya Cinema in Delhi . A young girl, engaged and about to be married in a couple of months, was pricked while the movie was going on. The tag with the needle had the message welcome to the World of HIV family". Though the doctors told her family that it takes about 6 months before the virus grows strong enough to start damaging the system and a healthy victim could survive about 5-6 years, the girl died in 4 months, perhaps more because of the "Shock thought".

We all have to be careful at public places, rest God help! Just think about saving a life by forwarding this message. Please, take a few seconds of your time to pass along.

With Regards, Arvind Khamitkar ,

I.A.S, Director of Medical & Research Div, Chennai.

Rather than forwarding irrelevant mails, kindly pass this to every one.

April 16, 2007 06:09 - How Medicinal Herbs Heal Naturally?

Medicinal herbs and herbal supplements are natural form of remedies. The healing process with herbal remedies is mostly free of side effects.

Conventional medical drugs are aimed toward a specific therapeutic effect and this specificity is considered a significant quality of drugs. And with this specificity of action comes side effects, adverse effects and toxic effects. Herbs act specifically as well as with non-specifically. Herbal actions are more general and holistic. Herbs begin to act right from the time we swallow them.

Multiple ingredients in a herb are its active ingredients. So we can't assume that the herbal action is due to a particular active principle. Many times it have been found that different phytochemicals in a single herb act in different way when tested individually. And when such a herb is taken the overall effect had been found synergistic.

Many times we need to develop new medical terminology for the effects of medicinal herbs like adaptogen when we don't have such a term in medicine. Know more about herbal healing of medicinal herbs. Find more info here>>>

So it should be in a better position with stress uclers - a kind of chornic peptic ulcer associated with stress.

April 19, 2007 07:03 - How St. John's Wort Affects Serotonin In Brain

Dear Friends,

St. John's Wort is an important medicinal herb for natural healing of Depression. Scores of clinical research trials (Know what these are) have supported the use of st. john's wort for treating depression. It had been found comparable to modern antidepressant drugs in efficacy and safer to them in side effects profile.

Affecting the Serotonin neurotranmitter in brain is one of main action of a class of drugs SSRIs. Though st. john's wort affects serotonin but it is with some difference.

Modern pharmacological antidepressant drugs bind with serotonin neurotransmitter and thereby it remains unavailable for its uptake. While hypericum blocks the receptor for the serotonin neurotransmitter and that increases the concentration of neurotransmitter and this increased concentration is the cause for antidepressant action. So drugs act on the serotonin and this botanical acts on its receptor.
