Promoting The Understanding Of Holistic Health:
Things,
substances and persons are holistic by nature. No one of us is imperfect or
incomplete. The only matter is that we are not aware of our holistic nature.
It is our
approach, attitude and paradigm that sets that whether we are expressing and
acting out of our holistic nature or just following our instincts and
subconscious habits.
And
remember that this process is never sudden. It is a gradual unfolding of our
understanding toward life and toward ourselves. The first thing to start to
live holistic life is to be aware toward it. To be aware that we are
holistic being. WE NEED TO EXPRESS IT AND NOT TO IMPORT IT FROM SOME BOOK OR
TEACHER. It is just inside waiting to be exposed, waiting to be manifested.
All the other things are mediators or catalysts - like prayer, meditation,
teacher or guru. They can help us to move, to see. The actual journey should
be covered by us.
Best Of
Luck. Good Preaching....

Last Month's Question In Health
Newsletter:
The Query: Do you feel that we
might have three dimensional nature - The causal or ideational, the pranic
or energy, the physical one? Do you feel that they are functioning in us?
Please explain.
There have been several answers received
for this question. However the best answer belonged to Mrs Madhu from Andhra
Pradesh, India.
Her daughter was suffering from Eczema and
she preferred to receive the ayurvedic prescription and email support in the
coming months of treatment.
Both of the facilities are given free of
cost. Ok. Get well soon.
So dear friends, Get ready for the answer
to the above question.
This Month's Question & Answers:
Q:
Mr. C. Shekhar from Washington.
I am a 42 year old executive in the field
of marketing. Recently I found my blood pressure going up for some time. The
doctor advised me to reduce the salt intake. I would like to start Ritu
Haritaki. Can I use terminalia chebula with salt despite being hypertensive?
Answer:
This form
of terminalia chebula is designed for the long term use. It will silently
detox the body and cleanse it with toxins and wastes over the months.
Salt is
used with terminalia chebula in rainy season. And that is still quite far.
If you start to use terminalia chebula right now, it won't cause any trouble
by that time. Further you can take rock salt along with it. Yes the quantity
of salt should also be minimized - salt would be there to render the taste
salty.
Even you
can use terminalia chebula in the form of extract. Both capsules and tablets
are available. Taking T. chebula daily will help in normalizing or lowering
the increased lipid or cholesterol in the blood.

Meet This Herb In Health Newsletter:
Kava or Piper methysticum
Kava or Piper
methysticum is a wonderful herb. Typically speaking it is a western herb. This
is the herb that is defamed more than it actually deserve.
Its plus point
is that it
can relieve anxiety with the efficacy of modern drugs. Whenever there is
need for relieving acute anxiety, kava should be used.
Its minus point
is that it has some
side
effects and drug interactions. That is why it is necessary to
know how
it should be taken. There are ample
resources if you feel to know more about this herb.
Know This Condition In Health Newsletter:
Moderate Constipation:
Last month we
talked about mild constipation. This month we will discuss about moderate
constipation. There is little difference to consider when we take modern drugs.
But it makes a
lot of difference - particularly in selecting the right herb - to ascertain the
nature of bowel habits.
According to
Ayurveda, the bowel with moderate constipation responds well to simple
purgatives as senna leaves, turpeth and other simple herbs. Whereas the severe
constipation would not respond satisfactorily to these herbs. More drastic
measures would be needed.
Remember
always! before taking any herbal supplements for the constipation, review your
diet and lifestyle and then analyze your bowel condition. Only after that choose
the right herb for that.
Be Resourceful With:
The Small-triad
of Ayurvedic Books
Yes, the set of three books are
considered as the small triad that should be studied by all the Ayurvedists
and herbalists.
They are:
-
Sharangadhara Samhita: This book deals with Ayurvedic herbal
pharmacy topics. The measurement system is current of its time. It belongs
to a few centuries back only.
-
Bhava
Prakasha Nighantu: This book is the materia medica of ayurvedic
herbs. Some new diseases like Syphilis are introduced for the first time in
this book. As Syphilis came to India with English and French invasion.
-
Bhaisajya Ratnavali: The word 'Bhaisajya' means medicinal herbs and
'ratnavali' means the gems. As its name suggests, this book is a treasure of
herbal formulations for various disorders. This is the latest addition to
the smaller triad.
The smaller
triad doesn't imply that these books are of less importance. The word small
is used to pay regards to the authors of the large triad of ayurvedic books.
These books are available in
Sanskrit, Hindi and English. The Herbal
Compound This Month:
Triphala:
Triphala
literally means 'the three fruits'. It is the mixture of three myrobalan fruits.
The three fruits are -
Haritaki
or Terminalia chebula fruit or chebulic myrobalan
Amalaki
or Amla or Emblica officinalis or emblic myrobalan
Vibhitaka
or Terminalia belerica or beleric myrobalan
This herbal
combination of equal parts of fruits of the three myrobalans is greatly used in
Ayurveda. It has great metabolic property by balancing the catabolic and
anabolic processes in the body.
Haritaki
regulates the expulsion of toxins and Vata. Amalaki provides the nutrition or
maintains the body and Pitta. Vibhitaka is good for Blood and Kapha humor.
Besides this is
good for eyes, constipation and a rejuvenative formulation that can be used
daily.
Herbal Home Remedy:
Fresh
Ginger with Salt:
Take a small
piece of fresh ginger and a pinch of salt into your mouth 15 minutes before the
meals.
This simple
home remedy works well in persons with dyspepsia or those who suffer from lack
of appetite. This is great appetizer.
The persons
with hyperacidity or gastric or duodenal ulcers should not this preparation as
ginger is hot in active principle.
Health Via Kitchen:
The Heavy
& Light Quality Of Food:
Whatever we eat
comes under two categories - the light and heavy food. The light and heavy is
relative terms. These are in relation to individual digestive power.
We should be
aware of our capacity to digest. The same food can be heavy to digest for the
other person while the other can easily digest the same food.
We can judge
easily which food would be hard to digest by ourselves and which would be
easier. We can adjust the QUANTITY of that food article in accordance with our
ability to digest.
By following
this guideline, we can remain free of common abdominal troubles that often cause
a lot of distress.
We are trying to have some of the
practically useful and some other inspiring articles that would prove to
accelerate the momentum toward understanding the holistic nature.
