Welcome to Mango or Mangifera indica: This ayurvedic herb is both edible and medicinal. The Mango fruit is the king of fruits in India. The bark, leaves, flower, fruit and seed marrow is used medicinally. This medicinal herb is anti-diuretic, anti-diarrheal, anti-emetic and cardiac herb according to Ayurveda. It is also known as 'Aam' or 'Amra'.

Habitat:

This plant is found throughout India, especially the tropical part. It has many varieties in India.

The Plant Of Mango:

This is a large tree that has a height of 30-40 feet to 100-120 feet.

Leaves:

Leaves are 4 to 12 inch long, 1 to 3 inch wide, oblong and pointed. Leaves possess a peculiar odor on being crushed.

Flowers:

Small greenish yellow flowers appear in group and possess an attractive, mild fragrance. Flowering occurs in spring season.

Fruits:

Fruits are green when unripe and turn to yellowish or orange-yellow after ripening. The fruit pulp is yellow-orange, sweet or sweet-sour in taste and fragrant. Anyone who has tasted the fruit ever would have salivation just reading this simple description. Aha! There is a big seed inside the fruit pulp. The seed has a marrow. Fruition occurs in summer.
