Habitat:
This ayurvedic
herb is commonly found in India up to 4000 feet altitude from sea level.
The Different Species:
This
ayurvedic herb is famous by the name of Black Vasa, particularly in Bengal
region. The latin name of black malabar nut is Justicia gendarussa Linn. f.
Another plant with similar features is found in Kerala and its latin name
is Adhatoda beddomei Clarke. The variety that is discussed by the name of
yellow or white Vasa in Ayurveda is Adhatoda vasica.
The Plant:
This is a bush
with 4 to 8 feet height.
Leaves:
Leaves are 3 to
7 inch long, hairy, malodorous, oval and narrow at both ends. The petiole is one
inch long.
